Does starting your car with the A/C, heat, or headlights set to the "on" position damage the car's battery?

No, but it is robbing power from the starter which needs all the power it can get to turn the engine over particularly in the winter on older cars. Some new cars autoswitch power off those items till engine starts.

Just turn them off you won't regret it.

everything is turned off when you crank (start position) automatically.
Reply:wheelers right,, but the answer would be no anyway,, as if it can source the several hundred amps to crank the engine,, the other minuscule drains in comparison would do no damage.
Reply:No, it won't harm the car the only thing i would worry about is watching how long you do leave the lights on before you do start the vehicle, just so you wont run you battery down.
